Bookbinding workshops Autumn 2025

Here are my bookbinding workshops for Autumn 2025. These group workshops are suitable for a range of abilities: from beginners and improvers.

1. Sketchbook with pockets

Where: Graphic Studio Dublin
When: 10am – 4pm, Saturday 11th & Sunday 12th October 2025

What: In this instructional workshop, you will create a beautiful handmade sketchbook by folded and sewing signatures to create a multi-section hard back book. It will also have pages that have pockets for storing memorabilia and other small items. This sturdy handmade book is ideal for carrying around in your bag and can be used for sketching, journalling and other creative activities.

2. Creating artist’s books

Where: Graphic Studio Dublin
When: 10am – 4pm, Saturday 29th & Sunday 30th November 2025

What: In this creative workshop, you­ will create several of your own unique artist’s books. The objective of this course is to explore the potential of basic book structures, building up on them to create unique artists books with visual content.
The first morning will be spent experimenting with drawing, stamping and photocopying to create imagery. No previous experience or skill necessary – just a willingness to play and experiment!

3. Japanese stitch books

Where: Glór, Ennis
When: 6th December 2025

What: In this instructional workshop, you­ will bind several Japanese soft-back books experimenting with different variations of the stitch. This beautiful stitch is highly versatile and suitable for a diverse range of books: notebooks, display books, sketchbooks and more. You will leave with a variety of handmade books that make great gifts for Christmas – or to keep for yourself!
