Spring workshops 2019

Want to learn how to bind books? Then join me for one of my bookbinding workshops for adults this Spring. They are all suitable for beginners to the more experienced.

1. Solander box making
Saturday 30th & Sunday 31st March, 10am to 4pm
Venue: Graphic Studio Dublin

In this two-day workshop, you will create your own archival solander box to hold A4 size prints, drawings, etc. Participants will be encouraged to develop their own distinctive box: making their own bookcloth, creating an embossed design or adding an inscription to the box.

If you would like to book a place on this workshop, see here: https://graphicstudiodublin.com/art/solander-box-making-30-31-march-2019/

2. Longstitch Journals
Saturday, April 6, 2019 at 10am – 4pm
Venue: Quilt Yarn Stitch, Tuam

In this workshop, you will make a beautiful book with decorative stitching along the spine. This book makes an excellent scrapbook or journal. We will also add pockets to our books – perfect for storing little scraps of material or other mementos.

If you would like to book a place on this workshop, call 093 24356 or see here: https://www.facebook.com/events/435567640317991/

3. Medieval Bindings
Sunday 28th April, 10:30am – 4:30pm
Venue: National Print Museum, Dublin

In this one-day workshop, participants will create a Limp Leather binding. Journeymen in Europe used this style of book during medieval times for account-keeping. This sturdy structure with decorative stitching along the spine makes an excellent sketchbook or notebook.

I teach bookbinding to all ages, levels and abilities. If you are interesting in having a one-to-one workshop or in a smaller group, please contact me and I’d be happy to tailor something to suit your needs.
