Printmaking Today article

One of my collaborative projects SEED: objects of wonder was featured in an article in Printmaking Today. The article by Renata Pekowska takes a look at book artists and projects around Ireland such as Red Fox Press on Achill Island and others, and considers whether artists’ books can help us understand the impact of the pandemic and digital switch of 2020.

The SEED: objects of wonder journals is a new mixed media journal of art and writing, devised and curated by writers Felicia Olusanya and Grace Wilentz, and designed and produced by me. The SEED collective is made up of artists and activists aiming to rethink ways of curating and communicating, and expanding the imaginative potential of what a journal can be.

As book artist for this project, I developed the structure, design and layout for each issue, carefully creating a beautiful receptacle for the individual artworks. For the first edition, I designed and handbound an edition of 40 Accordion Envelope books, as well as designing, laying out and printing the artworks.

For the second edition, I designed and produced an edition of 80 boxes - each of which I handprinted using a labyrinth themed print. I also designed and developed the format and layout for each of the artworks contained within the journal.
