Pigna wedding guest book

This couple were getting married in an Italian village called Pigna – which translates as pine. As a result, they decided to theme their invites around the symbol of a pine cone. They used an orange-brown colour for the text and the pine cone motif was dotted throughout their beautiful invitations.

I created this wedding guest book using their colour scheme as inspiration. The binding is a Secret Belgian book which has striking stitching wrapping around the spine and over.

I originally tried blind embossing the pages with a pine shape but it was a little too subtle. I decided to draw a pine cone using an archival black pen on the front page, mimicking the one found on the invitation.

For the cover, I used a rich autumnal themed paper, coupled with a rusty orange book cloth. The orange of the book cloth picked up the amber hues of the paper. The cloth and paper meet halfway across the cover, creating a contemporary look. This handmade guest book measures 24 x 17 x 2 cms.
